Milchreis mal anders - Ricepudding

For this week’s “Tuesdays with Dorie” challenge Isabelle of Les gourmandises d’Isa picked “Arborio Rice Pudding, White, Black (Or Both)” from Dorie Greenspan’s book “Baking From My Home to Yours".
I really enjoyed the recipe with risotto rice. Nevertheless the recipe did not work as it should. I was glad to have read in advance the comments of other participants. First struggle was for many bakers the tiny amount of rice. Just 1/4 cup! I took 1/3 cup and added about 2 tbs. The 2 cups of water were quite ok - as the rest of the water went into the sink. Dorie added in her recipe more than 3 cups to 1/4 cup of rice. Far too much for me, especially when the estimated cooking time of 15 minutes was too short. I only added 2 cups to my 1/3 cup of rice. I cooked it for 1/2 hour.
And now my tweak: The last few minutes I added some orange zest, giant raisins and saffron! The suffron gave it an oriental look - the flavour was very, very tasty. I really liked the orange zest and raisin combination. For decoration - and of course extra flavour - I added some roasted sliced almonds.
Thanks, Isabelle for choosing this recipe! By the way: Isa has the recipe for the base recipe.

Klingt eigentlich gar nicht schwer.

You post from the heart! :0)
@Mari: :-)
@Vibi: Thanks for this nice feedback!
@chocolatechic: Thanx :-)
@flotte: Klar, mit Vanille schmeckt's doch immer ;-)
@Gabriel: I'll have a look at your site!
@lesley: Would like to read about your experience with this recipe :-)
